When New York State began selling custom license plates in the 1970s, one family had an obvious but almost brilliant idea: They grabbed the license plate with the custom text “New York” so that the license plate would read “New York, New York.” “I suggested it to my father back then, I knew it was something special,” says the man, whose family has been driving around with this license plate for more than 40 years. A truly unique piece
