The electric car divides Austrians

Now that Christmas is just around the corner, the mood in the country is more heated than ever before. Corona is dividing the country, opponents of vaccination are demonstrating. But the car also seems to be dividing our society at the moment. Strictly speaking, it is e-mobility. Here too there is almost only black and white.

The electric car divides Austrians

I recently took part in a video conference with an expert lecture on the topic. The subsequent discussion lasted longer than the actual lecture. Even the latter was anything but objective, scientifically serious. It seems to me that when it comes to e-mobility, people are either against it or for it. Either you praise the climate friendliness of electric cars or you deny it. Either you appreciate the driving characteristics of electric vehicles or you demonize the limitations in range.

I wonder why we can't approach the topic a little more objectively. Every intelligent person knows that a thing is rarely black or white - there are many shades of gray. My wish to the Christ Child: Let's approach the topic less - how apt 😉 - "charged" next year. An objective discussion about opportunities and problems makes more sense than blanket judgments. This is especially true since electric cars will not disappear: the subsidies have just been extended.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a great New Year!
