One of Europe's most prestigious automotive awards was presented to the Spanish vehicle manufacturer Seat for its “Leon” model.

The Seat Leon was awarded the “Best Buy Car of Europe 2021” trophy in Barcelona. The award was presented at a gala in the venerable La Llotja de Mar building. 150 guests from 34 different countries were present when the trophies were presented to the winners. The Autobest trophies gain their significance, among other things, from the fact that the 32-member jury is made up of some of the most recognized automotive journalists from all over Europe. The award honors efforts to develop vehicles that stand out from the crowd on the market. Seat has received this award for the second time. The Seat Ateca was already named in the same category in 2017.
1.1 billion investment
“Winning the Autobest award for ‘Best Buy Car of Europe 2021’ is the greatest possible recognition for the team involved in the launch of the new Seat Leon,” said Wayne Griffiths, Chairman of Seat S.A. and CEO of Cupra. “It is a success based on an investment of 1.1 billion euros to take the car designed, developed and produced in Barcelona to a new level,” said Griffiths. The success of the award-winning model is also reflected in the numbers. The Spanish vehicle manufacturer has sold more than 2.4 million units of the Leon across all generations. The compact vehicle has been the best-selling model in its home market since 2014.
