The technical heart of the impressive series of victories are the engines from BRP-Rotax from Gunskirchen in Upper Austria. As a subsidiary of BRP, Rotax develops and produces all of the high-performance engines for Can-Am Maverick vehicles. Together, the Maverick X3 drivers completed more than 183,504 km of extreme off-road racing in this year's rally, achieving another historic achievement. Francisco López (Chile) and Juan Pablo Latrach Vinagre (Chile) crossed the finish line first in the combined light vehicle category and side-by-side class, leading a platoon of Maverick X3 drivers home. With a completely new route, the 2021 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia provided dramatic moments and constant challenges. “It takes a lot of work and preparation to win the Dakar, but without the right machine it wouldn't be possible,” said Francisco López.
