Dacia Duster 2: The good is preserved

Feel

The long-legged Duster is a joy to get into because you can take your seat without any contortions. The improved upholstery compared to its predecessor proves to be comfortable even on long motorway journeys, and the driver now benefits from improved ergonomics thanks to the lengthwise adjustment of the steering wheel. The numerous shelves are practical, the savings pen is only noticeable on the hard plastic surfaces, which, however, have been upgraded with stylish decorative elements. The fittings landscape presents no puzzles and is clearly and concisely designed. The navigation screen is still located too far down in the center console, meaning that your eyes are distracted from the traffic for an unnecessarily long time.

Drive

The power of the 110 hp diesel engine is always sufficient in everyday life, the chassis is excellently tuned - not too hard, not too soft. The dual clutch transmission is obviously better tuned than its predecessor and is now also a joy to drive in stop & go traffic. While driving, the gears change smoothly and keep the engine in the ideal speed range. With front-wheel drive, you can easily tackle mountain roads, while the optional all-wheel drive will show its strengths on the mountain pastures and in winter.

Load

The trunk is easily accessible and, as before, holds a decent 478 to 1,623 liters of luggage. However, the knee room for the passengers in the back seats is a bit tight.

Conclusion

The robust everyday companion has become even more casual on the outside and has significantly improved its ergonomics and quality on the inside. Although still cheaper than the competition in the segment, the Duster is no longer a bargain.
