Continentals drivverksamhet har framgångsrikt slutfört sin omställning som det första området inom teknikföretaget; the changeover to the new name "Vitesco Technologies" is planned for the second half of 2019. The management team is led by CEO Andreas Wolf, and a partial IPO is planned from 2020. In addition to the combustion drive business, the company also operates the entire future business with hybrid and electric drives as well as all ongoing battery activities. Continental är en teknikledare inom elektrifiering av drivningen och kan leverera fullständig elektrifiering av drivlinan från en enda källa: från 48-voltssystemet till integrerade hybridkoncept i transmissionen och axeln till den rena elektriska drivningen inklusive kraft- och laddningselektronik och batterihanteringssystem. Continental kraftelektronik är till exempel installerad i Jaguar I-PAC. The company's importance in the drive market is reflected in the high level of incoming orders: in 2018, they amounted to around 11 billion euros, of which around 2 billion euros were in the area of electromobility.
