Continental: New powertrain technologies

The two new areas “Technology & Innovation” (TI) and “Business Development & Strategy” (BD) are now responsible for future development at Continental. The work of “Technology & Innovation” focuses on the pre-development of new powertrain technologies, the hardware and software architecture of new product generations and the coordination of innovation management. The tasks also include the coordination and implementation of pre-development projects together with the business units of the Powertrain Division. Since the beginning of January 2014, the TI department has been headed by Oliver Maiwald, previously Engineering Manager at Delphi Diesel Systems in Wolfsburg. The main focus of “Business Development & Strategy” is the development of a strong powertrain strategy, the identification of new trends and markets as well as close coordination with customers and authorities to ensure the optimal product orientation of Powertrain. Christopher Breitsameter took over management of this area in December 2013.
