Brembo: New design for Xtra brake pads

Brembo introduces the newly designed 'Brembo Xtra' brake pads for the aftermarket. This product line was developed to complement the perforated and grooved brake disc ranges. They are intended to meet the demands of sporty drivers who pay particular attention to comfort and durability in daily traffic.

The updated appearance of the Brembo Xtra brake pads has been available since June 2021.  Brembo paid particular attention to the development of a new graphic with the Brembo Xtra logo, which is applied to a newly designed gray shim using red pad printing. This new design replaces the previous laser engraving on the friction material.

In order to meet what the manufacturer calls Brembo's high sustainability standards, the new brake pads are delivered in a fully recyclable protective cover, which also offers even better protection. The aesthetic redesign of the brake pads, including the renewed packaging, sets Brembo Xtra apart from all of the company's other product ranges. This differentiation also underlines the special premium quality of this product line.

100 references

The Brembo Xtra brake pad range, which was first introduced in 2018, was specially tailored to the Max and Xtra brake discs. It includes over 100 references, including many of the latest compact, mid-size and sports cars. For the brake pads, Brembo uses the BRM X L01 material developed specifically for this application by its development engineers. It consists of more than 30 different components that were examined and tested in the company's own research laboratories.

The development of this innovative material results directly from Brembo's experience in original equipment as well as many high performance products designed for use in extreme braking conditions. The Xtra brake pads feature improved pedal feel, comfort and resistance to fading as well as greater friction stability, reduced wear and cleaner rims.

The Brembo Xtra brake pads in the new design have ECE R90 approval, meaning they are fully compatible replacement pads for road use. Both rubber variants - with a black shim and the new design with a gray shim - will be available in parallel for a few months.
