BMW Group on the road to success in Austria

With the restart of production at the world's largest BMW Group engine plant in Steyr on April 27th and the reopening of many trading operations in Austria and the Central and Southeastern Europe region, the BMW Group in Austria will now gradually ramp up production and sales again.

With around 4,500 employees, the BMW Group Plant Steyr is the BMW Group's largest engine plant in the world and one of the drive competence centers in the global production network. In 2019, over 1.2 million engines (of which 57 percent were gasoline engines and 43 percent diesel engines) and 12.9 million drive components were produced. This means that around half of all new BMW and Mini vehicles sold worldwide have a “heart” from Austria. In the past financial year, BMW Motoren GmbH achieved sales of 3.7 billion euros (plus one percent compared to 2018).
