Birner: Without data we are dead!
“If the vehicle manufacturers do not give independent workshops and parts dealers access to the vehicle data, our business is dead,” says Walter Birner during a press conference at AutoZum. The newly appointed chairman of the VFT once again reiterates that drivers must be able to decide who they provide which data to. Birner receives support from FIGIEFA President Hartmut Röhl, who is fighting at the highest political level in Brussels to ensure that vehicle manufacturers do not keep the data to themselves. The stakeholders cannot accept the manufacturers' line of argument that they build the vehicles and therefore their data is also important: "That is banal and untenable," says Röhl succinctly.
