Popular media had conveyed to end consumers: “You can take your time when converting to summer tires and checking the tires,” criticizes BIM Josef Puntinger in an interview with KFZ Wirtschaft.

The extension of the pick-up deadline “definitely did not do a good service” to operational and traffic safety, emphasizes Puntinger. In the first few days, business in his own car dealership started “very slowly”: “Many people still believe that they are not allowed to go out at all,” said the Federal Guild Master. Fixed service appointments were increasingly canceled at short notice. For the automobile trade in general, it was important that the registration offices were now open: “Vehicles that were tied to the companies can now finally be delivered to the customers,” explains Josef Puntinger. People need to be made more aware that - compared to supermarkets, for example - it is much easier to maintain the so-called minimum distance in car dealership showrooms. Basically, the Federal Guild Master is "cautiously optimistic" with regard to the near and distant future: "I don't think that the end consumer's desire to buy is really restricted. It will be more along the lines of: If I invest, then do it now. Who knows what will happen?", says BIM Puntinger.
