The e-mobility service provider Instadrive lists the benefits that drivers of electric cars can currently claim.
Benefits for e-car drivers
According to Instadrive, the individual municipalities in Austria are responsible for deciding which advantages are offered to users of electric cars. The following benefits include:
- Reservierung öffentlicher Parkplätze zum Laden
- Reduktion von Parkgebühren
- Aufhebung der IG-L Beschränkung
- Eigene Kennzeichen für E-Autos
- Reservierung öffentlicher Parkplätze zum Laden
Charging spaces can currently be reserved in the following cities:
- Wien (kostenlos für die Dauer des Ladevorgangs)
- Graz
- Klagenfurt (Grüne Kennzeichentafel erforderlich, um Ladeplätze kostenfrei nutzen zu können)
- Innsbruck (maximal 180 Minuten)
- Salzburg (es muss jedoch auch bei ladenden Autos ein Kurzparkschein ausgefüllt werden)
- Mistelbach (maximal 120 Minuten; Parkscheibe ist erforderlich, jedoch muss man keine Gebühren entrichten während des Ladens)
- Amstetten (maximal 240 Minuten; Parkscheibe ist erforderlich, jedoch muss man keine Gebühren entrichten während des Ladens)
In Austria, there are speed restrictions on some motorway sections in accordance with the Air Immission Control Act, colloquially known as the “Lufthunder” or “Luftachtziger”. If the pollutant concentration is too high in these areas, the speed limit is reduced in order to reduce emissions. Since electric cars do not cause any local emissions, they are exempt from the speed limit. However, this regulation only applies if it is explicitly marked by appropriate additional boards. In addition, green license plates are mandatory in order to be able to drive faster in IG-L areas without penalty.
