Béla Barényi Prize for motorsport legend
At the end of October, the Béla Barényi Prize was awarded for the 16th time at the Bosch Austria headquarters in Vienna-Erdberg. Wolfgang Ullrich received this year's award for his outstanding commitment to motorsport. He was at the helm of Audi Sport for over 23 years and achieved extraordinary things for the company during this long period. He has built up partner teams around the world and has won countless super touring car championships and numerous DTM titles under his leadership. 13 victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans are considered particularly impressive milestones. Hardly anyone knows the 24 Hours of Le Mans, one of the monuments of global motorsport, better than Wolfgang Ullrich.
Technology testing laboratory
The welcoming words at this year's Bela Barenyi award ceremony were given by Bosch Austria boss Helmut Weinwurm, and the laudatory speech for the award winner was given by Bernhard Geringer, head of the Institute for Vehicle Drives & Automotive Technology at the Vienna University of Technology. AMV Vice President Ottokar Pessl presented the award winner with the trophy, a handcrafted golden lion. "Motorsport, like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is an extreme stress for people and technology and is therefore also a test laboratory for new technologies! I am very pleased that my successes with Audi, which have always been characterized by new technologies, are being recognized today with the Bela Barenyi Prize," said award winner Wolfgang Ullrich.
