Battery chargers are changing
Hella spare parts trading is expanding its product portfolio and is now starting to sell CTEK battery chargers. Thomas Posch in the automotive business interview about the advantages of new chargers.

Battery chargers are changing
Automotive economy: Why is the battery charger market changing?
Thomas Posch:Many workshops still have old chargers without electronic controls, but this is absolutely necessary in order not to damage the modern vehicle electronics. It is also important that the charger adapts precisely to the individual battery types and adheres to the corresponding charging cycles.
What can happen if an old battery charger is used?
An old or incorrectly set charger can cause an overvoltage in the on-board electrical system, which can cause damage to control devices. As a result, damage to the vehicle battery is also possible. Most of the brand workshops that are required to use equipment have already made the switch. There is a need to catch up, especially in independent workshops, where I estimate that around 50 percent still work with outdated battery chargers. We recommend a charger for every workplace or lifting platform, as even minor service work involves the on-board electronics, such as changing the brake pads.
What are the advantages for the workshops?
The new MXTS 40 meets all the important criteria of modern charging technology, is a very powerful device with 40A and is perfect in combination with diagnostic work for the workshop. The MXTS 40 has many features already integrated as standard that are only available as options or not at all in competing devices. In short: modern battery charging technology with an unbeatable price-performance ratio.
How big do you estimate the market for the new CTEK devices?
CTEK is already a well-known brand in Austria, but it has never been specifically pushed through its own Austrian importer. We now see great market potential here with Hella. CTEK is currently changing from a small consumer device to a professional device for specialist workshops. The new products also underline this.

The new MXTS 40 from CTEK is a professional, fully automatic 8-stage charger that promises optimal power supply when it comes to battery support, engine updates and error code reading. The temperature-compensated device has a charging voltage selection (12 and 24V) and is suitable for all types of batteries. The heart of the microprocessor-controlled 40 amp charger is a patented 8-stage charging characteristic, which is made visible using an additional LED display. The user has a clear overview of all essential data and is perfectly informed about the current status of the battery. The MXTS 40 is compact (200 x 160 x 78mm) and light (3.9 kg) and is protected against foreign objects and spray water. A 2.5 meter long and removable heavy duty cable is included. www.ctek.com / www.hella.at
