AutoScout24: Cyclists are the biggest traffic offenders

The biggest sinners, according to road users, are not motorcyclists, as is often assumed, but rather the “pedal knights”. 43 percent of those surveyed consider cyclists to be the biggest traffic offenders. Motorcyclists and older respondents over 40 are particularly critical of cyclists. Second place among traffic offenders is occupied by drivers, some way behind them - 17 percent of those surveyed view car drivers with a particularly critical eye. Motorcyclists are viewed far less negatively by those surveyed - only 10 percent see them as the 'worst sinners' on Austria's roads.

And who lives most dangerously in Austria's traffic? The respondents agree here: 41 percent believe that cyclists are the most endangered species. Incidentally, pedal riders (and young respondents aged 18 to 29) consider themselves to be most at risk. Almost a quarter see pedestrians as the most endangered species (23 percent), with motorcyclists following closely behind in the ranking (22 percent). Like cyclists, motorcyclists also see themselves as more at risk than the average of those surveyed.
