Car dealership 4.0 opens in Tyrol
The new Tyrol used car center (GWZ) at the Vomp location near the Schwaz motorway exit in Tyrol has become a real gem. Opened in November 2020, the well-maintained showroom forms the heart of the 5,000 m² free multi-brand car dealership. Interested customers can come by almost around the clock: the showroom is open every day, including Sundays, until 10 p.m.
The Tyrol used car center also has a master vehicle workshop with its own tinsmith and paint shop, a premium vehicle preparation facility (steam and dry ice are used), a tire warehouse and an in-house vehicle registration office for all Tyrolean districts. For managing director Marcell Klemmer, a dream has come true with the new building and relocation of the company, which has existed since 2011.
“Our new showroom is now one of the largest used car showrooms in Austria,” says Marcell Klemmer proudly. There is space for up to 150 cars here. The focus continues to be on the sale of middle and upper class used cars, but with modern approaches, i.e. a digital touch. "For us, used car sales have nothing to do with what people commonly imagine. We are completely transparent and want to consistently set ourselves apart from the unfortunately sometimes negative image that the Austrian used car trade has built up over the years," emphasizes Klemmer.
In the Tyrol used car center, high-quality used cars are experiencing a “second heyday”. "The vehicles we sell are up to four years old and receive a general overhaul, for example with new rims and new tires. Brakes and wear parts are replaced. We are our best workshop customer in this regard."
Interested buyers come via platforms such as aktuellwagen.at, Car4You, AutoScout24 or willhaben.at. "In addition, we have implemented our own automobile online shop on our website. With us you can order and buy a car like on Amazon. The customer can trade in their car online, choose insurance and financing. This makes us the first in all of Europe." Marcell Klemmer is convinced that in just a few years all car dealerships will have online sales. “But we were one of the first to implement Car Dealership 4.0.”
For many, the online hurdle is still big, for dealers and customers, especially when buying new cars. Nevertheless, the reality is that car sales are initiated via telephone, email or online. "For example, we have invested in a state-of-the-art 360° photo turntable for the online presentation of our vehicles. There are 42 of them around the world. The customer can view the vehicle from all sides online from the comfort of their own home." With the combination of innovative vehicle presentation, online shop and express delivery (the customer can have the vehicle delivered to their door if requested), the Tirol used car center is well positioned.
Modern workshop
“We think this type of used car trading will be the future.” The requirements for this are not only met digitally at the new location in Vomp, but also structurally and technically. 5.5 million euros went into the new building. On the one hand, there is the spacious showroom. On the other hand, the more than 600 m² master workshop for vehicles of all brands offers all-round service. “This is possible thanks to our state-of-the-art workshop equipment and technology.” Five hydraulic lifting platforms designed for large vehicles up to 4.5 tons are available. A 3D wheel alignment device allows you to check the axle suspension and wheel alignment. As one of the first brand-free car dealerships in Austria, assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control (ACC) or lane keeping and lane change assistants can be checked and calibrated at GZW Tirol.
Another pioneer in Austria is the assembly robot, which assembles wheels up to 36 inches autonomously and error-free. State-of-the-art diagnostic equipment is standard, as is a rapid diagnostic test lane for the §57a-Pickerl check on cars, vans and motorhomes, including an all-wheel drive test bench and 3D vibratory plate. The Tirol used car center relies on Kastner Autobedarf as a strong partner for workshop equipment and technology. “Everything when it comes to accessories, spare parts, consumables, wear parts, brakes, chassis parts, springs, shock absorbers, etc., we source almost 100 percent from Kastner,” says Marcell Klemmer. Kastner customer advisor Hannes Annewanter adds: “We also supply the complete service material, wiper blades, exhaust, oil and filters to our workshop customers.”
House and court supplier Kastner
Kastner was also involved in the new construction of the Tyrol used car center. “We delivered and installed the complete workshop equipment, starting with the paint booth, lifting platforms, the equipment for the Pickerl diagnostic line, compressed air system, air conditioning, vehicle diagnostics, balancing and assembling tires – everything that a modern vehicle workshop needs to be equipped with,” says Annewanter. But the equipment is not enough. “What sets us apart at Kastner is the customer support and customer service.” With over 40 fitters throughout Austria, we are always ready to provide services for the customer's systems, maintenance and repairs.
Kastner is just as proud of the new Tyrol used car center project as the customer himself. “After all, we have been supporting the company from the very beginning and are, so to speak, the house and farm supplier.” GWZ boss Marcell Klemmer sees another major advantage in working with Kastner: "Authorized dealers have to provide storage options for importers, from the brake disc to the filter, and meet spare parts targets to a certain extent. Apart from oils and fluids, we do not store any spare parts. This is possible because we receive deliveries four times a day. This makes our processes much easier."
