The focus of Auto Shanghai, which is scheduled to take place from April 23 to 28, 2019 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, will be the topics of electromobility, autonomous driving and connected cars. Auto Shanghai 2017 already set a new record: over a million visitors from all over the world found out about the innovations of more than 1,000 exhibitors on 360,000 square meters of exhibition space. Thematically, Auto Shanghai is all about the car of the future. In order to improve air quality in China's giant cities despite increasing car purchases, electric and hybrid cars play an enormous role and are massively supported by the state. China has now replaced the USA as the largest market for new energy vehicles. From 2019, the Chinese government will also set minimum targets for manufacturers with an electric car quota for the production and sale of alternative drives. Experts expect sales of vehicles with alternative drives to exceed the 2 million mark by 2020.
