Exception for storage vehicles

As usual, there will again be the possibility of exemptions for storage vehicles: for M1 vehicles up to 10% of the respective type of new vehicles registered in 2017. If 10% of the registrations result in fewer than 100 vehicles, exception applications can be submitted for up to 100 vehicles.

For M2 and N1 (Group I) vehicles of up to 30% of the respective type of new vehicles registered in 2017. If 30% of the registrations result in fewer than 100 vehicles, exception applications can be submitted for up to 100 vehicles.

A corresponding decree from the BMVIT is expected at the beginning of July 2018 and will be published on the following BMVIT website:

Brand dealer:
As soon as the decree is publishedBrand dealerContact the authorized importer (general importer) and provide him with the necessary vehicle data for the affected storage vehicles.

Own importers, gray importers, brand-free dealers:
For vehicles that were not purchased from the authorized importer (general importer), applications for an exemption can be submitted to the respective state governments. However, it may be that the national quota has already been exhausted by the authorized importers, meaning that an exemption can no longer be obtained and the vehicles must be registered in a timely manner.

Individually approved vehicles:
For individually approved vehicles (including used vehicles for imports from third countries!), the individual approval notice must check the date up to which initial registration is still possible. If necessary, the licensing authority must be contacted regarding an exceptional permit.
