"Garanta adapted to the new situation very quickly. We are acting within the framework of the regulations and recommendations of the federal government," says Kurt Molterer, Garanta Austria's main representative for the automotive industry.  Around 65% of employees would work from home. Some are also on vacation or are in the process of reducing overtime through compensatory time. The other part of the employees ensures on site that all relevant processes continue to run as usual. “Our area managers work from home and are available to their car dealership partners via telephone or electronic communication with the usual service quality,” assures Molterer.

The activities in the registration offices have been newly regulated and severely restricted due to the regulations. Kurt Molterer: "Customers are generally prohibited from entering. Admissions and deregistrations may only be carried out in certain cases that serve to maintain the system. We have set up an on-call service for this purpose. Employees are available to customers for registrations and deregistrations after registering by telephone at the admissions offices. Since the number of such cases is very low compared to normal operations, the employees in the admissions offices are currently on short-time work."

What expectations are there for the next two or three months or what measures are planned?

"As THE industry insurer, we are part of the motor vehicle industry in Austria. Our success depends directly on the business development of the car dealerships and motor vehicle companies," explains Molterer. Since the motor vehicle trade is currently suspended, it is assumed that new business will decrease significantly in the next few months. "Of course, we are supporting all car dealership partners during this time with inventory preservation measures and sales support from the Garanta sales team. But the next few months will undoubtedly be a difficult time for the motor vehicle industry and also for Garanta. However, we are sure that after this time one or two customers will make up their car purchase. The car trade and we as THE industry insurer are happy to assist the customer with our tried and tested offers," says Molterer.
